Incremental Shipping Charges for Multiple Items

This option is best if you are able to use flat-rate shipping but need to slightly increase the shipping price per item when the buyer orders more than one.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. When creating a "Buy Now" or "Add to Cart" payment button, enter the amount you would charge to ship just one of the item in the “Shipping” field.

Make sure to enter it without the currency symbol (e.g., $, £, €, etc.), no thousands separator (e.g., no commas), and use the period (".") as the decimal separator. For example, if you need to charge $10.00 for shipping, enter it as 10.00.

  2. Scroll down and click on the section marked “Step 3: Customize advanced features (optional)” just above the yellow “Create” button. This will open up a new section of the page.

  3. Scroll down to the bottom of this section to the “Advanced variables” section.

  4. Mark the checkbox next to "Add advanced variables."

  5. In the text box below, enter the following (with no spaces and no quotation marks): “shipping2=(price)”. Replace (price) with the amount that you want to charge customers for each additional item ordered.

Example: If your incremental price is $2.50, you would enter “shipping2=2.50”.

  6. Once you have finished customizing your button, click "Create Button" to generate the HTML code you will need to add it to your website. See our Payment Button guides for more information on creating, customizing, and implementing your button.
