Why was my payment sent as an eCheck and why is it pending?
If you make a PayPal payment funded by your bank account, without a debit or credit card linked to your PayPal account, the payment will be sent as an eCheck. It usually takes up to 7 business days for an eCheck to clear, but sometimes it may take longer.
An eCheck is an electronic transfer from your bank account to another person's PayPal account. It's like writing a check, but you send it electronically.
Next time, you can pay instantly from your bank, by adding a credit or debit card to your PayPal account. Adding a card as a backup payment method will allow you to pay from your bank instantly.
Be sure you’ve enough money in your bank account before sending an eCheck. Otherwise, your bank may decline the payment. If your bank declines it, we’ll try it again within 3 business days. If your bank declines the payment a second time, we’ll cancel it. Remember, your bank may charge a fee for declined payments.
You won’t be able to send an eCheck if an instant transfer is possible.
