When you make a purchase with your PayPal Debit Card, we'll use any available money you have in your PayPal balance. Here's what you need to do to add money to your balance:

Receive money

When someone sends you money through PayPal, it can be used for your PayPal Debit Card purchases.

Add money from your eligible bank account or debit card on the web

1. Go to Wallet.
2. Click Transfer Money.
3. Click Add money from your bank or debit card.
4. Enter the amount and click Next.
5. Choose either ‘In seconds with debit’ or ‘in 3-5 days with your bank’.

Add money on the PayPal app

To add money from your eligible bank account or debit card on the app:

1. Tap Finances.
2. Tap Add Money From Bank or Card.
3. Enter the amount and tap Next.
4. Tap either ‘In seconds with debit’ or ‘in 3-5 days with your bank’.  

Or scroll down on the Finances tab to set up Direct Deposit, cash a check, or add cash at stores. 

Add money at participating stores

You can add cash at any participating retailer (including Walmart, CVS, 7-Eleven, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Dollar General, Dollar Tree, Family Dollar, and many others). Take your cash to the register and let the clerk know you want to add cash to PayPal. There’s a fee to add cash to your PayPal Balance Account at participating stores. The fee amount varies by store. Generating barcodes in the app is free of charge. They will ask you to swipe your PayPal Debit Card. Then hand the cash (between $20 and $500) to the clerk. Your money will be added within minutes, and you’ll receive an email confirmation.
