We monitor for early warning signs of fraud 24/7 and act to prevent fraudsters from using the cards in your PayPal wallet. This feature adds extra protection by alerting you if we detect:

• Someone making an unusual attempt to add your card to their PayPal wallet.
• Someone using your card as part of a suspected “carding attack” at a PayPal merchant. A carding attack is when fraudsters try low-value charges like $0.01 or even $0.00 to see if a card works. If it does, they may sell the card on the dark web or use it for larger purchases.

Wallet monitoring isn’t yet available for PayPal-branded credit and debit cards.
