I misspelled my name during signup. How do I change it?

You can change the name on your account only if there is an error or you legally changed your name. You cannot change the name on your account to another person's name.

To submit a name change request go to https://www.paypal.com/il/cig-bin/webscr?cmd=_sr-name-change and follow the instructions.

If you can't submit your request using the link above, please follow the instructions below to submit your request.

We will notify you by email when we complete the name change on your account.

  2. Click Contact Us at the bottom of the page.
  3. Click Send us under Email us.
  4. Follow the instructions and make sure to include a brief description of your request including the reason for the name change and the new name being requested.

In order to change your name you need to provide the following documents by uploading or faxing them to us.

Please note: To help protect your information, we don’t accept files that are sent as email attachments. If you email us attachments, we will still require you to upload or fax your documents.

  • A copy of a valid photo identification showing your new name (a driver's license, a passport, or any other government-issued photo identification).
  • A copy of a court-issued document showing your new name (for example, a marriage certificate or marriage license, a divorce decree, or a deed poll).
