Returns from the Orders v2 or Payments v1 APIs. Refer to the Validation error developer document.

Note: If the problem continues or if you have any questions, contact us at paypal-techsupport.com.

Cause
This error happens when a payment doesn't go through because of incorrect or missing information. Common reasons include:

  • Missing or wrong information: Required details weren't provided or were entered incorrectly.
  • Wrong data type: Information is in the wrong format (e.g., numbers instead of letters).
  • Currency problems: Invalid currency codes or incorrect formatting of the payment amount.
  • Incorrect JSON format: The data sent is not formatted correctly.
  • Business rules: The payment was blocked due to account settings or account status.
  • Outdated API: An old or incorrect version of the API was used. Validation rules might differ across API versions.

Impact
The customer’s payment doesn't go through, and the purchase isn't completed. If not fixed quickly, this can lead to lost sales.

Resolution

  • Check the error details: Look at the error message from the API to identify exactly what needs correcting.
  • Verify your information: Make sure all required fields are included, accurate, and properly formatted.
  • Fix the data and try again: After correcting the errors, resend the information. This will let your customer successfully finish their purchase.
