How do I send a receipt with PayPal Zettle?

You can send a receipt via email or text message, or print it for your customer.

  • To email a receipt, ask your customer to enter their email address and tap Done.
  • To text a receipt, ask your customer to enter their cell phone number and tap Done. You shouldn’t be charged for the text message.
  • To print a receipt, you'll need a compatible printer. Our app is compatible with the Star Printer MCP2 and Star Printer MCP3 or SML200 (SM-L200-UB40). Once you have a printer set up, tap Print when you’ve made a sale.

You can print the receipt manually after each payment or set it up to print automatically. To turn on automatic printing of the receipt, go to Settings in the PayPal Zettle app.

If you need to write a receipt by hand, include the following information:

  • Name of your business
  • Address of your business
  • Receipt ID or payment reference
  • Payment amount and currency
  • Payment date
  • Truncated card number (only the last 4 digits)
  • Vendor name
  • Receipt number
  • Payment date
  • Description of items sold
  • Payment amount and currency
  • Sales tax on items sold
  • Total sales tax charged
  • Total invoice amount

Check which details your tax authority requires as they can vary by location.
