How do I convert my billing agreements into payment tokens?

Billing agreements are agreements between a customer and a merchant that allow the merchant to charge the customer's PayPal account for future purchases, including recurring payments, subscriptions, and automatic payments.

Billing agreements will be replaced by payment tokens used in the Payment Method Tokens API. By converting the previous billing agreements into payment tokens, you can use one integration with Payment Method Tokens API to manage both PayPal and all other payment methods, such as cards, Venmo, and Apple Pay. Also, you won't miss out on updates to new features.

Payment Method Token APIs are the latest solution for saving payment methods to the vault. Billing Agreements APIs will be deprecated in the future.

To convert to payment tokens:

Reach out to our Sales Team or your Account Manager to initiate this process. Our APIs will identify customer billing IDs and convert your billing agreements to payment tokens used in Payment Method Tokens APIs.

Once this conversion is complete, you'll find the output file in a DropZone folder provided by a PayPal Integration Engineer. To save payment methods with the Payment Method Tokens APIs, visit the Developer Portal to learn more about how to start using your payment tokens.
