Get to know the PayPal benefits your customers receive

Sep 04 2019 | PayPal editorial staff

PayPal makes it secure and easy for you to get paid, but why do more than 7 million Australian consumers choose to pay with PayPal rather than directly with their credit or debit card? We thought we’d deep dive with you into some of the benefits your customers enjoy when they choose PayPal to pay you.

Fast checkout

With One Touch™, your customers don’t even need to enter their password to pay you. We remember them on the devices and browsers they choose, so they can skip through checkout even faster. They simply click to pay if they want to use their default payment method and shipping address, or change them in a few taps before completing the purchase.

Fast, easy checkout results in happier buyers and better conversions for you. And latest research shows PayPal conversion performs, on average, 82% higher than all payment types combined* so it’s a nice boost to your business too.

Buyer Protection

We provide consumers with protection for when a purchase doesn’t go to plan, such as an item not being as described eg: counterfeit goods. With PayPal’s Buyer Protection, consumers feel more confident when buying online. And don’t forget, you may be eligible for Seller Protection on the same transaction.

Refunded Returns

If your customers need to return an item, we’ll refund them the cost of shipping the items back, up to $45 per return and 8 times a year. The only requirement is that the return is in accordance with your policies. And the great thing is you don’t need to do a single thing, PayPal takes care of it for you.

What is One TouchTM

One TouchTM  is an optional feature that allows you to skip logging in with your email and password while still keeping your financial info secure. When you use PayPal on your mobile phone, desktop, laptop, or tablet, we’ll automatically log you in on that device and browser so you can breeze through checkout across all eligible merchants.

As long as you actively use One TouchTM , we’ll renew your “turned on” setting on that device so you can skip login at checkout. To help you manage One TouchTM  across your devices, we’ll turn it off automatically if you haven’t used it in a while. You can turn off One TouchTM  at any time in Settings

Why should I activate the service?

Activating One Touch takes you directly to the payment page and breeze through check out. It also saves you the hassle of entering your password. For security purposes, whenever you update your PayPal personal or financial account information we’ll always ask you to log in.

PayPal doesn't share full payment information with merchants when you shop.

How do I activate the service?

Select "Stay logged in for faster purchases" when checking out with PayPal upon initial log-in. This activates One Touch for that specific device and browser and for all eligible merchants.

You can also activate One Touch by clicking Activate One Touch on our One Touch page and complete the activation.

For your account safety:
  • We’ll still ask you to log in whenever you update your PayPal personal or financial account information.
  • To avoid misuse of your PayPal account, please only activate One Touch on your personal device or computer and not on a public or shared computer or device.
  • If your phone is lost or stolen, change the security settings immediately to protect your PayPal account. You can also call us to help protect your account from unauthorised use.

How do I view and deactivate the devices that remember my login?

Here’s how to check the devices and browsers you’ve currently enabled One Touch:
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click Account settings.
  3. Click Edit next to "Stay logged in for faster purchases".
  4. If you need to turn off One Touch from a certain device, simply click Log out beside that device in the list.
Alternatively, you may also turn off the feature entirely by changing your PayPal account password or logging out from all your devices.

What does PayPal do to help if I have a problem with my online purchase?

When you pay with PayPal online, PayPal Buyer Protection won’t be impacted by this functionality and will continue to apply your eligible purchases.
You can report your problem in the Resolution Centre.

To learn more about PayPal Buyer Protection and to see a full list of eligibility requirements and exclusions, please review our User Agreement.
The PayPal Refunded Returns service refunds the cost of return shipping for eligible items back to the seller. To start requesting refunds on your return shipping costs, click Activate Now on our Refunded Returns page.

If you don’t have a PayPal account, just click the Sign Up button on the activation page to get started.

How do I request for Refunded Returns?

Once activated, you can ask for a refund on your return shipping cost for eligible items, up to $45 AUD per refund request. To qualify for Refunded Returns, please return the purchased item to the seller within the required timeframe, and retain your postage receipt and documentation as outlined within the General Conditions of Use.
