How does PayPal + Subscription Cashback work?

If you’re in the Gold or Black tier, PayPal gives you cashback on your subscriptions. In Gold, you get up to £12.50 cashback per month for a total of £150 annually. In Black, you get up to £16.66 cashback per month for a total of £200 annually.

You don’t need to opt in to this benefit; it will be applied automatically once you qualify for Gold or Black. Additionally, you're eligible for cashback regardless of whether the subscription is new or if you were already paying for it with PayPal.

Example:

You’re in the Gold tier. You pay for two subscriptions with PayPal. Subscription A is £10 per month and Subscription B is £5 per month. You’re charged for Subscription A on the first of the month. You’re charged for Subscription B on the 15th of the month.
You’ll get a cashback payment from us for £10 a few days after you pay for Subscription A. You’ll get another cashback payment from us for £2.50 a few days after you pay for Subscription B. In total, that’s £12.50 for the month.

What subscriptions qualify for the benefit?

Any subscriptions you pay for weekly, monthly, and annually qualify, except subscriptions at merchants in our excluded merchant category codes (MCCs). Some examples of excluded merchant categories include:

  • Gambling sites
  • Dating services

I didn’t get cashback on a subscription. What should I do?

In some instances, a subscription payment may be incorrectly identified. This means that you might get cashback for a payment that wasn’t a subscription (lucky you!), or not get cashback for a payment that was a subscription. Both scenarios are rare however, if you experience this, please contact us.
