How do I complete identity confirmation for my PayPal account? How can I check the status?

It’s mandatory to complete identity confirmation if you upgrade your Personal account to a Business or Premier account in Japan. Please view the process and required documents for Identity Confirmation in Japan.

To check the status of your identity confirmation, please click Upgrade your account near the bottom left on your Settings page.

For the confirmation to be successful, your name registered on the PayPal account must match exactly the name on your identity documents. In addition, the names should display identically both in Roman characters or both in Japanese. If your names differ, please change your name on the PayPal account. Depending on the type of name change, you may need to provide additional documents. We’ll proceed your request after receiving all the required documents, and email you in a few days when the name change is complete.
