How do I find my Payflow API credentials for 2.0?

The API credentials needed may be different based on your website software’s needs. Generally, the Third-party shopping cart/platform will ask for one of these 3 options:

  • API Signature
  • API Certificate
  • Payflow Gateway API (PayPal Manager).
    • (Partner, Merchant/Login Name, Username, Password.) Note that these are different from your paypal.com login credentials.

Here's how to request an API Signature and Certificate (paypal.com account):

  1. Log in to your PayPal Live or Sandbox Business account.
  2. Go to the page "Your Payment API Credentials."
  3. Scroll down and click the NVP/SOAP API Integration (Classic) tile.
  4. Select “API signature” or “API certificate,” depending on your shopping cart requirements.
  5. Click Agree and Submit.
  6. We will generate the API credentials that you provide to your website/developer/shopping cart platform.

Here is how to find the Payflow API Credentials (PayPal Manager):

These are the same as your login at https://manger.paypal.com.

When a PayPal Manager account is created, an admin user with the same name as the merchant login gets created. You will use the Partner, Merchant Login Name, Username, and password for your API credentials to set up your payment processing on your website. You will use this default username for your Payflow API Credentials or create additional/new users and grant permissions as appropriate for API access.

If you'd like to use a specific user for API access, please follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to Payflow Manager.
  2. Click Account Administration.
  3. Click Manage Users.
  4. Click Add User.
  5. Fill in the form to create the additional user, select users' permissions, then click Update.
