What should I do if my balance is negative?

If your account balance is negative, check your recent activity to find out why.

If you think your balance is negative because someone used your account, report it immediately in the Resolution Center.

Log in to your PayPal account and click the "Resolve Negative Balance" link. You can add money from your bank account to restore your balance.

Here’s how to mail us a check, a money order, or a cashier's check:

  1. Make the payment payable to PayPal Inc.
  2. Write your name and the email address registered with PayPal on the payment.
  3. Send the payment to:
PayPal Europe
P.O. Box 9473
Dublin 15
Ireland

Please note:

  • EUR or GBP are the only currencies accepted for check deposits.
  • If you send a check, it will take seven working days from the date we receive the check before the funds are credited to your account.
  • If you send a money order, it will be credited to your account two working days after being deposited in the bank.

Accounts paid by a personal check must remain in good standing for 30 days before the account can be reviewed.

While your account balance is negative, any payments you receive in your PayPal account will be applied to the outstanding balance, and any refunds you attempt will be funded by your primary bank.

If you don't resolve the negative balance within 120 days, your account will be locked, and you won’t be able to log in.
