Tools to Build Buyer Confidence

Buyers prefer sellers they can trust. Establish yourself by using feedback systems, seller identity authentications, and protection programmes. With PayPal, you can get several tools to increase buyer confidence.

Becoming Verified helps establish you as a seller in the PayPal network. It is recognised by buyers and means you have successfully completed PayPal's Verification process and established your identity with us.

The Verification process varies by country or region:

  • United States: A Verified member has confirmed a bank account with PayPal.
  • Most countries and regions: In areas where PayPal is available, a Verified member has added a credit card and completed the Expanded Use process.

For more information, go to the Verification FAQ.

PayPal Buyer Protection.

PayPal Buyer Protection is offered at no extra charge and covers international transactions on eBay when you pay with PayPal. This programme helps you recover funds if a seller does not deliver or significantly misrepresents an eBay item.

To determine your purchase protection on eBay, check the Buy Safely section on the item listing. See eligibility

Coverage varies based on the eBay site where you purchased your item. For example, if you purchase an item on, you may be eligible for coverage up to $20,000 AUD.

Note: Not all eBay sites have PayPal protection coverage. Before making your purchase, check the eBay item page. Learn more about eligibility or coverage amounts on eBay sites.
