You don't need to have balance in your PayPal account to make a payment. As long as you've linked a credit or debit card, you can start paying with PayPal.

If you want to add money to your PayPal account, you can top up with a confirmed bank account opened in Hong Kong. Here's how to top up with your bank account:

  1. Go to Money.
  2. Click Add Money near the top right corner of the page.
  3. Follow the instructions on page.

The money will usually arrive in your account within 3-6 business days. We’ll send you an email when the money’s in your PayPal account.

Note:

  • Transfers from ATM machines and online transfers from DBS bank accounts are currently not supported for Top Up.
  • We don’t charge a fee to transfer money from your bank account. Your bank may charge a fee to transfer the money.
  • You can top up in Hong Kong Dollars only.
  • If you want to make a payment in a currency other than HKD, our currency conversion rate includes a 3% fee. You might want to add enough money to cover the fee.

While you can keep many different currencies in your PayPal Hong Kong account, the funds you withdraw will be received in HKD or USD.

You can only withdraw from one currency balance at a time. To withdraw the total amount of funds in your PayPal account, you need to transfer all funds to one balance in HK or US dollars.

If you hold a balance in other currencies, here's how to transfer all funds to one balance:

  1. Go to Money.
  2. Click Convert currency under the balance you want to convert.
  3. Enter the currency and amount you want to convert, and click Next.
  4. Click Convert.

Once you've converted all currencies into one, you can withdraw money from your PayPal balance.

PayPal Business app lets you manage your business and get paid on the go. Regardless of the size of your business or the type of PayPal account you have, this app could be useful to you. You can download the app from the iOS App Store or Google Play.

If you're interested in sending PayPal payments on the go and keeping track of your money easily, check out the PayPal app for consumers.
Before confirming a PayPal payment to a third party in Hong Kong, please ensure you’ve verified the mobile number, email address, PayPal.me ID or relevant identifier and name (if available) of the payee carefully to prevent mis-transferring your money to the wrong person. Once the payment is made, please check with the recipient that they’ve received your money.

If you made a mistake and can’t cancel the payment from your Activity page, please contact us as soon as possible. We’ll assist you by contacting the recipient and requesting their authority to reverse the transaction if you can provide us with all required information.

If the recipient agrees that they received the payment by mistake, the money will be returned via PayPal to your original payment source.
