Can I cancel a payment I've sent?

You’re unable to reverse a payment you’ve sent if it has already completed.

If you want a completed payment to be reversed, we recommend emailing the recipient to request a refund. You can find the recipient’s email address by going to your Activity page and clicking the payment.

If you want to report a problem with a payment, you can open a dispute in the Resolution Centre (within 180 days of payment). A dispute provides a forum for you to communicate with the seller through your PayPal account to try to resolve any issues. If you’re unable to resolve the dispute with the seller, you have 20 days to escalate the dispute to a claim. In a claim, we investigate the issue and decide the outcome.
