How it works: PayPal Mass Payments step-by-step.

Step 1:
Add funds to your PayPal account.

When you're ready to make a payment, simply transfer enough money from your bank account to your PayPal account to cover the full payout. If the regular amount is always the same, you can set up an automatic transfer through PayPal.

Step 2:
Enter payment and recipient details.

Upload a file showing each recipient's email address, payment amount, and currency. This is easy to do in Excel, or through PayPal's Mass Payments API. You can edit this file, and add a personal note and useful ID, too.

Step 3:
Send the payment.

When you've double-checked your payment info, click Send and recipients will receive an email notification when the process is complete. You'll get one, too.

Step 4:
Recipients get their money.

The recipient clicks on the PayPal link in the email. They'll be linked to PayPal to access your payment. If they don't have a PayPal account, we'll send them instructions. Signup is free, easy, and takes just a few minutes.

Step 5:
And they transfer it.

The recipient can transfer the money to their bank account (bank transfers usually take 2—3 days to clear) or spend it online anywhere PayPal is accepted. It costs them nothing to accept your payment.
If your payment hasn't been claimed within 30 days, the money will be returned to you. You can cancel any unclaimed payment at any time.
