Authorisation & Capture is a PayPal feature that allows merchants to authorise a payment amount at the time of checkout and capture the payment at a later time.
Authorisation & Capture allows merchants to perform the following actions through the PayPal website or the PayPal API:
- Capture a partial amount or the full authorisation amount
- Make multiple authorisations on one order authorisation
- Capture multiple payments in one batch process
- Initiate reauthorisations
- Cancel previous authorisations
Benefits:
- Increased flexibility in obtaining payment if the original authorisation amount changes
- Accommodates a delayed order fulfilment process
- Capture funds multiple times on one authorisation or order authorisation
