PayPal has two flavors for buying and selling digital goods:
- Express Checkout – Digital Goods: Offer in-context payments within your digital content (simpler integration) Millions of shoppers prefer to pay with PayPal. If you already accept credit cards online, you can also accept PayPal by adding our Express Checkout button.
- Adaptive Payments – Digital Goods: Offer in-context payments on multiple platforms with more flexibility in the way you disburse payments (hardcore developers) Adaptive Payments allows hardcore developers to integrate flexible payment scenarios such as chained and parallel payments and payment disbursements to multiple parties.
If you don't already have either of these solutions you'll be asked to select one as part of your Digital Goods set-up. If you currently have Express Checkout or Adaptive Payments you can integrate the Digital Goods solution on top of your existing implementation.

Another product digital goods providers opt for is PayPal Payments Standard because it requires less technical expertise and no programming skills. PayPal is committed to giving you the best pricing for both your micropayments and larger transactions. Your fee rate will automatically adapt based on the size of the transaction. Signing up for micropayment pricing is easy too – you'll be prompted to apply as you go through the set up process. *
With a pricing structure that adjusts automatically based on the size and volume of your transactions, you can rest assured that you benefit from the most cost-effective pricing.
For example, if your sales are less than $3,000 per month, on a $5 transaction you would be charged the 5% + $0.05 rate ($0.30), and on a $100 transaction you would be charged the 2.9% + $0.30 rate ($3.20).
The pricing table above applies to domestic payments in U.S. dollars. There's an additional 2.5% charge for any currency conversion and a 1% charge to receive payments from another country.

The PayPal Carrier Payment Network is a new initiative creating a standard for carrier payments that benefits merchants, carriers, and consumers. Through Zong's and PayPal's extensive carrier relationships, PayPal's network of more than nine million merchants, and 106 million active customers, we're making the frictionless experience of carrier payments available for everyone.
