Inviting Friends and Earning Referral Reward Terms & Conditions

Redeem points for cash or other redemption options. The receipt and redemption of Points is subject to the PayPal Rewards Program Agreement. This offer may be modified or terminated at any time.

By participating in PayPal’s "Invite Friends" promotion (the "Program"), you agree to the following terms and conditions (the "Terms").

If you are the person inviting friends to join PayPal, you are a "referrer" under these terms, and if you are a person who receives an invitation to join PayPal from a friend, you are a "referee" (“Eligible Participants”). The Program allows referrers to invite people they know to sign up for a U.S. personal account with PayPal. Referrers and referees can both earn a Reward (defined below) when referees who are invited to join PayPal through the Program, sign up with PayPal and complete an Eligible Transaction (defined below).

Eligibility and Overview

1. You may participate in this Program as a referrer until the Program is otherwise terminated by PayPal. If you refer a referee prior to the termination of the Program, you will still be eligible to earn the Rewards described below if the referee fulfills the Reward Criteria (defined below).


2. To be eligible to earn Rewards through the Program, each referrer and referee must have a U.S. personal PayPal account in good standing (“PayPal Account”) from their time of participation in the Program through Reward(s) issuance.


3. A referrer may refer a referee by sending a personal message via the Program referral prompts (“Referral Link”). A referrer can receive a Reward for each referee that satisfies all of the following “Reward Criteria”: (i) accesses the Referral Link and completes the PayPal Account sign up process; (ii) links a bank account, credit card or bank debit card to their PayPal Account; (iii) verifies their cell number linked to their PayPal Account; and (iv) completes an Eligible Transaction (defined below) within the first 30 days of successfully completing the PayPal Account sign up process. A referrer can receive Rewards for a maximum of 10 referees per calendar year.


4. A referee can receive a Reward if they satisfy all of the following “Reward Criteria”: (i) accesses the Referral Link and successfully completes the PayPal Account sign up process; (ii) links a bank account, credit card or bank debit card to their PayPal Account; (iii) verifies their cell number linked to their PayPal Account; and (iv) completes an Eligible Transaction within the first 30 days of successfully completing the PayPal Account sign up process.
   
   An “Eligible Transaction” means: an online or in app PayPal checkout payment of $5.00 USD or more using the referee’s new PayPal account and that is marked as "complete" in the referee’s account Transactions that have been cancelled, refunded, or reversed by either the referee, referrer, or the seller do not count as Eligible Transactions.
   
   To receive the Reward, the referee’s Eligible Transaction must completed using their PayPal Account within the time frame specified above.
   
   Eligible Transactions do not include: (1) purchases that are marked as “pending”, (2) send/receive money transactions (including those marked as a “Goods and Services” or “Person to Person” payments) (3) prepaid card purchases or reloading, (4) PayPal Cashback Mastercard®, PayPal Prepaid Mastercard®, PayPal Extras Mastercard®, and PayPal Business Debit Mastercard® purchases made using the card directly at the merchant checkout and not through PayPal checkout (5) in-store cash withdrawals/cash back, (6) cash-like transactions, (7) digital gaming transactions, (8) lottery, betting or gambling transactions of any kind and (9) transactions that have been cancelled, refunded, or reversed. Satisfaction of Eligible Transaction criteria will be determined solely by PayPal.
   
   You may only refer family and personal friends or acquaintances. You represent that you know the potential referees with whom you share your personal message link and that, to the extent any consent is necessary under applicable law or regulation, you have consent to send texts, emails, or other communications regarding the Program, including sending your Referral Link to those recipients. Additionally, you must not publish or distribute your Referral Link in public locations (online or otherwise) where the audience is likely to include people who are not your family or personal friends/acquaintances. If you do so, PayPal may disqualify you and your referees from participation in the Program and any referrals and Rewards will be voided, in PayPal’s sole discretion. Every time you share your Referral Link, you must tell the referee that you earn an incentive if they create a PayPal Account using your Referral Link and then complete the Reward Criteria. Telling people that you earn an incentive is a legal requirement. Failure to comply may result in our voiding any referrals and revoking or declining to issue any Reward that you or your referees may have otherwise received.

Reward: The reward amount is (1,000) PayPal Rewards Points (“Points”), which can be redeemed for $10 cash or other options (“Reward”). There is a limit of one Reward per referee for the duration of the Program (each worth a $10 cash equivalent once redeemed) and a limit of ten (10) aggregate individual rewards (Rewards) per referrer PayPal Account per calendar year. If two or more referrers invite the same referee, PayPal will credit the Reward to the first person who referred the referee, as determined in PayPal’s sole discretion. The receipt and redemption of Points is subject to the PayPal Rewards Program Agreement.

Reward Redemption: Rewards should be available in Eligible Participant’s Account Overview section of their PayPal Account to redeem within fourteen (14) days after qualifying to receive the Reward. See the “Redeeming Points” section of the PayPal Rewards Program Agreement for details.

Miscellaneous: Participation is subject to the PayPal User Agreement, PayPal Rewards Agreement and the PayPal Balance Terms and Conditions. PayPal reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify this offer in part or in its entirety at any time without notice. Similar offers may run at the same time; qualification for this offer does not constitute qualification for any other offer. PayPal is not responsible and/or liable if any e-mail, Reward, or offer-related materials or correspondence are not delivered for any reason.
