Here you'll find answers to common questions from donors and charities. If you can't find the answer you're looking for, contact us and a member of our team will get back to you, typically within one working day.
Most public charities, religious organizations, and government agencies can enroll. (Please note that Private Non-Operating Foundations and Supporting Organizations are not eligible to enroll with PayPal Giving Fund.)
To qualify for enrollment, a charity needs to have a PayPal Business account and be able to provide documentation to PayPal confirming that their PayPal Business account belongs to their charity. Charities must also meet the terms of our Nonprofit Certification Policy to enroll.
See the next answer for step-by-step instructions.
Log in to your charity's PayPal account, then choose "Dashboard" from the menu at the top of this or any other page on the PayPal Giving Fund site.
We distribute donations to the enrolled charities for which they were recommended on or before the 25th of each month, by depositing a single payment into each charity's PayPal account.
Donations received on the 16th of the previous month up to the 15th of the current month are included in the monthly payout. We aggregate the donations to help reduce charities' administrative costs.
If a donation has been made to benefit your charity and it is not currently enrolled with PayPal Giving Fund, we will invite your charity to enroll with us. This will enable your charity to receive funds quickly and securely, to review donor details (where these are shared), to make additional information about your charity available to supporters, and to participate in additional PayPal Giving Fund programs.
If your charity chooses not to enroll in PayPal Giving Fund and we receive donations recommended for you, we will attempt to deliver the funds via check, after we have determined that your charity meets our requirements for receiving grants from PayPal Giving Fund, pursuant to our Nonprofit Certification Policy and Donation Delivery Policy.
Charities with a PayPal account can place donate buttons on their own websites to collect donations through digital payment methods. Those donations go directly into their PayPal accounts, and are subject to PayPal's payment processing fees.
Charities enrolled in PayPal Giving Fund can direct donors to their PayPal Giving Fund donation pages or pages hosted by our merchant partners. PayPal Giving Fund donations are then granted to charities in an aggregated monthly payout. PayPal Giving Fund does not charge any fees on these donations. In some cases our ecommerce partners may choose to charge fees on donations made through their platforms, which they will disclose to you on their websites.
