Most of our merchants reconcile their credit card transactions by comparing their Disbursement Details—which can be found on the second page of your Braintree statement—to the deposits they see in their bank accounts.

If you're looking for more granular information, some merchants like to reconcile down to the transaction by calculating their own per-transaction fees.

To learn about reconciling PayPal transactions, see the PayPal section below.

Disbursement Details

In the Disbursement Details—which can be found on the second page of your Braintree statement—the Date column reflects when Braintree disbursed funds from credit card sales to your bank. These funds should be reflected on your bank statement within 1-2 business days of the disbursement date. The Total Disbursed column will match the deposit you see on your bank statement.

If you are using Braintree's aggregated AmEx account, the Total Disbursed value will include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, JCB, and AmEx transactions.

If you have your own AmEx account, AmEx handles the disbursements directly. As a result, the funds from your AmEx transactions will not be included in the Total Disbursed amount found on your Braintree statement.

Disbursement Summary Report

If you would like to see transactions from a particular day's disbursement, or see your gross sales and credits grouped by card type, you can use the Disbursement Summary Report in the Braintree Control Panel.

Note: The Disbursement Summary Report does not include transaction fees and will not display AmEx transactions for merchants with their own AmEx account.

  • Log into the
  • Navigate to Transactions > Disbursement Summary
  • Select the desired date range
  • Click Run Disbursement Summary
  • To download a report that shows you the totals for each day grouped by card type, click Download CSV
  • To see all transactions from a specific day, click View Transactions

If you would like to review transactions that were disbursed across multiple days, it is best to use the Advanced Transaction Search by following the steps in the next section.

Calculating fees on a transaction level

You can calculate the fees for individual transactions by performing an Advanced Transaction Search.

  • Log into the Braintree Control Panel
  • Navigate to Advanced Search > Transactions
  • Uncheck the box next to Creation date range
  • Check the box next to Disbursed date range
  • Choose your desired date range
  • Click Search
  • On the results page, click Download
  • Open the CSV file in the spreadsheet program of your choice

From here, you can create additional columns for your transaction fees. To find your specific transaction fees, look at the Pricing Schedule on your statement. Make sure to round down, and then apply the fees to your individual transactions.

PayPal has many reports available to reconcile your account. For larger merchants, the PayPal Transaction Details and PayPal Settlement Report are both popular reconciliation options. For small to medium merchants, PayPal recommends using the PayPal Monthly Financial Summary report. You can find these reports in your .

Regardless of your business's size, all of these reports can be used in conjunction with Braintree's reporting options in order to reconcile your account.
