I can't find the money I received. Where is it?

If you are expecting money from someone, but don't see it in your PayPal account, it could be because:

  • The sender sent the payment to the wrong email address, spelled your email incorrectly, or entered the incorrect phone number. Please confirm with the sender the exact spelling of the email address or phone number they sent the payment to. If it was sent to the wrong one, you can add up to eight email addresses to your account. Once you confirm the email address, the payment will appear immediately.
  • The email address on your account is not yet confirmed. You'll see the payment on your account once you complete the registration process by confirming your email address.
  • You could be a victim of a scam on Craigslist or other classified websites or may have received a fraudulent email disguised as a payment notification from PayPal. Before you ship anything, log in to your PayPal account and check that you were actually paid. We never ask you to provide a tracking number via email. If you’ve been paid, you’ll always see the payment in your PayPal account.
  • You received a refund and paid with a credit or debit card, the refunded money will be sent to that card. Refunds to credit or debit cards can take up to 30 days depending on your credit/debit card issuer. If you paid with a bank account, the refunded money will be sent to that bank. Refunds to bank accounts can take up to 3-5 business days.
