Why did PayPal suspend business operations in Turkey?

As of June 6, 2016, our customers in Turkey can no longer send or receive funds with PayPal. Customers can still log in to their PayPal accounts and withdraw any balance on their accounts to a Turkish bank account.

Supporting our customers is very important to PayPal. However, PayPal was forced to suspend processing payments in Turkey when the local financial regulator denied our application for a Turkish payments license. We were also instructed to suspend our Turkish business operations.

Going forward, PayPal will decline all one-time or billing agreement checkout transactions from Turkish senders and receivers. These transactions will result in a generic decline code 98.

Here's how to withdraw money from your PayPal account:

  1. Click Transfer to your bank account under your PayPal balance.
  2. Enter the amount you wish to withdraw, then choose the desired bank account and click Continue.
  3. Review the withdrawal details and click Send.
It usually takes five to seven calendar days for your money to appear in your bank account.

Verify your bank details before trying to withdraw money from your PayPal account. Keep in mind that the first and last name on the bank account must match the name on your PayPal account.
