Why are my PayPal PLUS payments being declined?

Your payment can be declined for any of these reasons:
  • When a customer tries to pay with direct debit, a credit card, or a bank account that was previously registered in a PayPal account, PayPal risk analysis will probably decline the payment.
  • Our risk analysis seeks approval for payments from the card issuer or bank, which may also lead to a payment decline.
  • You can't pay yourself. If the payer is identified as "account holder" of the PayPal account, we reject payment.
