What is the PayPal Demo Portal?

The PayPal Demo Portal is an interactive online tool, hosted on a PayPal website, that demonstrates how different PayPal APIs interact in a live working environment. In a nutshell, the PayPal Demo Portal helps you accelerate your PayPal product integrations. It enables merchants and developers to step through a working checkout experience without having to build or develop inside a live environment.

Until now, demonstrating the different options and checkout flow to a merchant or developer involved setting up a test or development domain, then integrating one or more checkout options. With the PayPal Demo Portal, users can just change some configuration options to see how this alters the user experience.

The PayPal Demo Portal helps you quickly learn how PayPal capabilities work with your particular business. Using the PayPal Demo Portal, you can: •View the end-to-end user experience for all PayPal products, on a global level.

  • Learn about PayPal's best practice standards and see code examples that are in context with the flows you view.
  • See code and best practice information, letting developers know the suggested do's and don'ts of performing the relevant integration. The PayPal Demo Portal also highlights best practices for merchants.
  • Switch between Web, Mobile and Native app view to see the selected checkout and integration solution from a full end-user perspective.
  • Work with an interactive guide that brings users through each part of the checkout experience, explaining each step the user takes and the type of interaction expected as part of the flow.

The initial release of the PayPal Demo Portal covers only some North American options and some of the mainstream integration options, but PayPal plans to release the PayPal Demo Portal to more countries with more API and SDK options over the coming months. We're aggressively working to make the portal available in most of the regions that PayPal supports, and we'll be rolling out these new regions as they become available.

Currently, the PayPal Demo Portal currently supports only English, but we're working towards supporting as many languages as possible. We also plan to release more options for customizing the experience with merchant assets and branding.

The PayPal Demo Portal is open to everyone. You don't need to create a PayPal account or log in to PayPal to access the PayPal Demo Portal. In addition, you can view and download the code samples that it provides without logging in.

How is the PayPal Demo Portal different from the PayPal Developer Portal and the PayPal Sandbox?
The PayPal Demo Portal showcases the end-to-end user experience of our PayPal products. The portal also allows you to download code samples aimed at getting you up and running with the basic functionality of the selected products. The supplied code samples are just fragments and you'll need to create Sandbox test accounts on the PayPal Developer Portal to run the sample API calls within the Sandbox environment. The PayPal Developer Portal provides additional product support.
