Using PayPal and eBay Together
Linking your eBay and PayPal accounts
Linking your PayPal and eBay accounts only takes about a minute. Linked accounts provide you advantages like the option to open an eBay store.
Here's how you can add your eBay User ID to your PayPal account:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Click the settings cog next to "Log out."
- Click Selling tools.
- Click Update next to "eBay ID."
- Enter your eBay User ID and password. Please make sure that this is not confused with the PayPal username and password.
- Click Add.
Please make sure any old eBay User IDs are removed before you add a new one.
Buying on eBay with PayPal
Using PayPal on eBay lets you pay for eBay items with your PayPal balance, bank account, debit or credit card.
When you send a payment using PayPal, the seller never sees your credit card or bank account information. Also, a record of all your eBay purchases is kept in your PayPal account.
You can also purchase a "Buy it now" item with PayPal even if you don't have an eBay account.
Selling on eBay using PayPal
When you offer PayPal as a payment method on your eBay listings, your buyers can pay with their PayPal balance, bank account, debit or credit card. If you have a PayPal Premier or Business account, you can accept international payments.
You can pay for shipping and track your payments from the PayPal website. Plus, 24/7 fraud screening and PayPal's Seller Protection have you covered – see eligibility.
There is a fee to receive a payment with PayPal.
Using PayPal for your eBay fees
You can use PayPal to pay your eBay seller fees automatically each month or make a one-time payment. To set up automatic payments, log in to your eBay account and sign up under "Payment Methods for Seller Fees".
If you don't have enough money in your PayPal balance to pay your eBay seller fees, we'll use your preferred payment method. You can change or cancel your automatic payments from the "My Preapproved Payments" section of your PayPal Profile.
