Cryptocurrency sales can be taxable. You can buy, sell and hold cryptocurrency through PayPal’s cryptocurrency service, but you can’t use it to send cryptocurrency. PayPal’s cryptocurrency service is laregly unregulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority. If something goes wrong with the cryptocurrency, you won’t be able to use the UK Financial Ombudsman Service or have the protection of the UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

By participating in PayPal’s UK crypto incentive offer (the "Offer"), you agree to the following terms and conditions ("Terms"). With this Offer, you could get a Reward (defined below) of £10 (ten pounds) when you buy £10 (ten pounds) or more of crypto with PayPal. PayPal may at any time and in its sole discretion, without prior notice, terminate, cancel, suspend or modify the Offer or these Terms.
“Eligible Participant” a participant must: (1) be eighteen (18) years of age or older; (2) be a resident in the UK; (3) have a UK personal PayPal account in good standing (“Valid Account”) during the Qualification Period (defined below) and through the Reward fulfilment; and (3) receive an authorised email containing the invitation to participate in the Offer (eligibility for/those who receive this invitation will be determined solely by PayPal). The Offer is limited to the first 3,700 participants who successful claim the Reward (as defined below) on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Qualification Period”: starts at 12:01 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) on November 23, 2021 and ends at 11:59 p.m.GMT on December 25, 2021.
“Qualifying Transaction Period”: starts at 12:01 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) on November 23, 2021 and ends at 11:59 p.m.GMT on December 31, 2021.
“Redemption Period”: starts at 12:01 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time (“GMT”) on November 23, 2021 and ends at 11:59 p.m.GMT on January 31, 2022.
“Qualifying Transaction(s)”: a purchase of £10 (ten pounds) or more of any of the four cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash) available with crypto with PayPal, using a Valid Account during the Qualifying Transaction Period. Such purchase must be for a single type of coin in a single transaction. A Qualifying Transaction does not include: (1) purchase(s) of cryptocurrency made on servers other than PayPal; (2) purchase(s) of two or more different types of cryptocurrencies equalling £10 (ten pounds) or more; (3) multiple purchases of one coin equalling £10 (ten pounds) or more; and (4) PayPal transaction fees (please see PayPal Consumer Fees - Transaction Fees | PayPal UK for more detail).
“Reward”: £10 (ten pounds) voucher that will be viewable in the “Offers” section of the Eligible Participant’s Valid Account. The Offer will be sent to Eligible Participant’s Valid Account within approximately five (5) business days of the of the Qualifying Transaction purchase. There is a limit of one (1) Reward per Valid Account.
“Eligible Purchase(s)”: purchases of £10 (ten pounds) or more made using a Valid Account at merchants that accept PayPal during the Redemption Period. There is no required minimum spend and such purchase must be completed during the Redemption Period. Eligible Purchases do not include: (1) sending/receiving money transactions (including those marked as a “Goods and Services” payments), (2) charitable donations; (3) purchases made using PayPal.me; (4) PayPal Business Debit Mastercard® purchases made using the card directly and not through your Valid Account; (5) Scan/Pay transactions using PayPal’s QR code functionality; (5) purchases of cryptocurrency with PayPal; and (6) PayPal transaction fees (please see PayPal Consumer Fees - Transaction Fees | PayPal UK for more detail).
How to Qualify for the Reward: Eligible Participants must: (1) click and save the Offer during the Qualification Period (limits apply); and (2) make a Qualifying Transaction during the Qualifying Transaction Period. If you don’t have a Valid Account, you will be required to convert your account to a Valid Account before you make your Qualifying Transaction.
How to Redeem: Once received, activated, and qualified for, the Reward will be applied automatically to the Eligible Participant’s next Eligible Purchase. The Reward must be redeemed during the Redemption Period and may only be redeemed as described in these Terms. Use of the Reward will be reflected on the Eligible Participant’s PayPal receipt and/or in the transaction details of his/her Valid Account.
Miscellaneous: A Valid Account must remain in good standing from the time of participation through Reward fulfilment to redeem a Reward, as determined in PayPal’s sole discretion. Redemptions are final, will not be returned, and are subject to review and verification. The Reward has no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or transferred out of the Eligible Participant’s Valid Account, except in PayPal’s sole discretion. If item(s) purchased using a Reward are returned and the Redemption Period has expired, PayPal will first refund the money spent to the payment method used to complete the Eligible Purchase and purchase amount in excess of the money spent (i.e., the value of the Reward) will not be refunded. If the Redemption Period has not expired, the value of the Reward will be returned to the Offers section of the Valid Account and will be available for use by the account holder. PayPal may provide an alternate reward of equal value if it is unable for any reason to fulfil the Reward. PayPal reserves the right to cancel, suspend or modify this Offer in part or in its entirety at any time without notice, for any reason in its sole discretion. Similar offers may run at the same time; qualification for this Offer does not constitute qualification for any other offer. PayPal is not responsible and/or liable if any e-mail, Reward, Qualifying Transactions, Eligible Purchases, or offer-related materials or correspondence are lost, fraudulent, abusive, stolen, late, incomplete, illegible, interrupted, delayed, altered, defective, misdirected, tampered with, or irregular in any way or if any participant’s e-mail address, Valid Account, or other contact information does not work, is deleted, or is changed without participant giving prior written notice to PayPal. PayPal reserves the right to review any account or transaction related to this offer, in its sole discretion, without notice, and reverse or delay completion of the Reward. Offer is void where prohibited and if Eligible Participant’s accounts, Qualifying Transactions or Eligible Purchase(s) are fraudulent, abusive, not completed through legitimate channels, or irregular in any way. Certain offers may not be transferable. Participation is subject to the PayPal User Agreement and the PayPal Cryptocurrency Terms and Conditions. Any questions relating to the Offer will be resolved in PayPal’s sole discretion and its decisions related to the offer will be final and binding.
Governing law and jurisdiction. These Terms are governed by English law. By participating in the Programme, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and the User Agreement. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions.
Promoter. The promoter of this Programme is PayPal Pte Ltd, a company incorporated in Singapore, with registered number 200509725E and registered address at 5 Temasek Boulevard, #09-01, Suntec Tower Five, Singapore 038985.
When you buy or sell cryptocurrency, we will disclose an exchange rate and any fees you will be charged for that transaction.
