What is Tap to Pay?

Tap to Pay on Android allows you to take in-person contactless payments. Your customer can tap physical cards and use mobile wallets or smartwatches. Customers tap on the back of your Android smart device. 

What payment methods are accepted?  

With Tap to Pay on Android, you can accept any contactless payment, through a physical card, digital wallet or smartwatch.   

VISA, MasterCard, Amex and Discover are the currently accepted card brands through Tap to Pay.  

Which devices are compatible?  

Tap to Pay works on devices with Android 7.38 and above, NFC capabilities and Google Play services. 

How much are the fees?  

The Tap to Pay payment fee is the same as a regular card payment through the card reader or terminal. 

How do I get started? 

Tap to Pay is immediately available within the Zettle POS app.

How do I accept contactless payments?  

  1. Open the Zettle POS app.
  2. Add the products you're selling to the cart or enter a custom amount.
  3. Check out and select Tap to Pay.
  4. The customer can then tap the back of your device to pay.  

Where does the money go when I receive a payment?   

Tap to Pay works like taking a regular card payment through one of our readers or terminals. The money will be collected and paid out to your PayPal balance directly. 

Can I accept a tip through Tap to Pay?  

Currently, tipping isn't supported through Tap to Pay; however, we're working on it.   

Can I refund a Tap to Pay transaction?   

  1. Open the Zettle POS app
  2. Select Receipts from the menu
  3. Locate the Tap to Pay transaction
  4. Tap Refund.
