Card and contactless payments

Here’s how to take a card payment:

1. Add a product to your shopping cart or enter a custom amount.
2. Tap Charge.
3. Choose Card as payment method.
4. Hand the card reader or Terminal to the customer.
5. Confirm that the payment has been approved.
6. Enter the customer’s email address/ mobile number to send a digital receipt. You can also print the receipt if you’re connected to a supported printer or if your Terminal is attached to the Printer and Dock

Cash payments

Here’s how to take a cash payment:

1. In the POS app, add a product to your shopping cart or enter a custom amount.
2. Tap Charge.
3. Choose Cash as payment method.
4. Enter the customer’s email address/ mobile number to send a digital receipt. You can also print the receipt if you’re connected to a supported printer or if your Terminal is attached to the Printer and Dock.

Good to know:

• When you accept a cash payment, you don’t pay any transaction fees
• If you’ve enabled cash as a payment method, your cash payments are recorded in your sales reports

Payment links

You can use payment links to accept payments from customers who aren’t physically present. It involves sharing a link with them via SMS or social media/ WhatsApp, email etc.

You can activate this feature by accessing the menu in the Zettle POS app, then tap Payment links and activate. 

Payment links are sent using the POS app:

1. Add products to the cart and tap Send link.
2. Enter the name of the customer.
3. Choose how to share the link (SMS, email, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp etc).

Manual card entry

To enable Manual Card Entry, you must first take a card payment through a Zettle card reader. You can then enable the feature from the menu in the Zettle POS app, by tapping Settings, manual card entry, then activate.

Here’s how to take a manual card entry payment:

1. Choose a product from the Product Library or enter a Manual Amount.
2. Review your Shopping Cart or go straight to checkout by clicking Charge.
3. Choose Manual Card Entry.
4. Enter card details.
5. Wait for approval.
6. Send the receipt via SMS or email if desired.

PayPal QR code payments

Some sellers will notice PayPal QR code payments are currently unavailable in the Zettle POS app. In order to continue using this feature, please do so from the PayPal app directly. You can find out more information on using PayPal QR code payments here.
