How do I buy Cryptocurrency on PayPal?

PayPal's crypto purchasing service is temporarily paused while we update our system to comply with new UK regulations. You can continue to hold your crypto, or you may sell if you choose.

Crypto, short for cryptocurrency, is a digital currency you can buy, sell, and securely hold in your PayPal account. 

Go at your own pace

Get started with cryptocurrency for as little as £1. You decide how much you want to participate, so it's easier to stick to a budget and buy what makes sense for you.

Users can buy Crypto using their PayPal balance, or a PayPal-linked debit card or bank account.

Here’s how to buy Cryptocurrency with PayPal on the web: 

  1. Click on the Crypto promotional tile  More  on your PayPal account Dashboard.
  2. From the Crypto landing page, select the Cryptocurrency you would like to buy.
  3. Click  Buy. You may have to confirm your account.
  4. Enter the amount you would like to buy.
  5. Choose a payment method.
  6. Select  Buy.

To buy cryptocurrency in the app:

  1. Tap  Crypto.
  2. Select one of the cryptocurrencies.
  3. Tap Buy. (You may have to confirm some info.)
  4. Read the Terms and Conditions, then tap  Agree and Continue.
  5. Enter the amount you want to buy and tap  Next.
  6. Choose a payment method, then tap  Buy Now.
