Keeping every seller safer

Our industry-leading anti-fraud technology and a team of specialists help keep you more secure. Our Resolution Centre offers a convenient process for responding to any buyer disputes. Plus, you may be eligible for our Seller Protection.

Improve your bottom line

Focus on what you love: delighting buyers and growing profits. With Seller Protection, your eligible sales are safeguarded, helping to save your business from lost revenue and time caused by responding to claims and unauthorized transactions.

Stay safe from fraud

Accepting credit and debit card payments makes transacting with customers quick and simple. However, if an unauthorized payment is made we’re here to help protect you.

How does Seller Protection work?

If a buyer files a claim, chargeback or payment reversal, we’ll place a temporary hold on the funds in question and email you a request for proof of shipment and any other information we need to determine if your transaction meets the eligibility requirements. Once we’ve received your documentation, we’ll investigate to determine whether your transaction is eligible for Seller Protection. If it is, we’ll lift the hold and restore your access to the funds as soon as possible.

Safeguard your sales

If you are sent an unauthorized payment (for example, from a hacked account) or a buyer claims they never received their item, our Seller Protection covers you for the full amount of the payment on eligible sales.

To help keep your sales eligible:

  • Ensure you receive a single payment for each sale
  • Ship the item to the address specified by the buyer on the transaction details page.
  • Keep copies of your shipping documents so you can provide them if a buyer lodges a claim.

The transaction details page will indicate if your transaction may be eligible for Seller Protection.

Ship it right

Every claim is your time and money lost. To make sure your sales qualify for Seller Protection, generally all we need is proof of shipment (evidence the item was shipped to the buyer’s address listed on the transaction details page).

We recommend using a shipping service that supports door-to-door tracking that’s viewable online. The proof of delivery should include: ship date, buyer's address, and delivered date.

Items Not Covered

Items that don't match your description, intangible items like services or digital goods, items that violate our or eBay's policies, and items you sell or deliver in person. All are not covered.

For full eligibility requirements, see our Seller Protection Policy.
