How do I check the status of a payment?


To check the status of a payment from your PayPal app:

  1. Scroll down to Your activity near the bottom of the screen. Here you will see your most recent transactions.
  2. To see more, tap the arrow next to Your activity.
  3. To filter your transactions, tap the icon in the top right corner.


​To check the status of a payment from your computer:

  1. Your most recent activity will appear on the Summary page under 'Recent activity'.
  2. To see more transactions, click the arrow next to 'Recent activity' or click Activity near the top of the page.
  3. Next to 'search', near the top of the page, click Filters to sort your transactions.
  4. The status of your transaction will be listed below the recipients' name.

What does the status of my payment mean?

Here are some definitions to help you understand the status of a payment you send:
  • Pending: We're reviewing the transaction. We'll send your payment to the recipient after your payment source has been verified. Please see our additional Frequently Asked Questions if your order status is pending, or the payment you sent is pending but you'd like to cancel it.
  • On hold: We're holding the money temporarily because either you filed a dispute or we're reviewing the transaction. Look for an email from us with more information about this transaction.
  • Held: We're reviewing the transaction and so your payment has been held. You should check the Resolution Centre for more information.
  • Temporary hold: Money from your account is being held temporarily during the authorisation process. The recipient cannot use or withdraw this money until the authorisation is complete.
  • Refunded: The recipient refunded your payment. If you used a credit card to make your payment, the money will be returned to your credit card. It can take up to 30 days for the refund to appear on your statement.
  • Returned: Money was returned to your account because the recipient didn't claim your payment within 30 days. PayPal customers can manually reverse unclaimed payments before the 30-day automatic reversal.
  • Denied: The recipient didn't accept your payment, and the money was returned to your account. Go to your account Activity and click the transaction to see why your payment was denied or contact the recipient for more information. 
  • Unclaimed: The recipient hasn't accepted or received your payment. Unclaimed transactions are automatically cancelled after 30 days.
  • Completed: The transaction was successful and the money is in the recipient's account.

How do I download a copy of my transaction history?
 

If you need a copy of your transaction details, you can download it at any time from the Activity page on your account, or generate a custom statement.

To download your Activity:

  1. Go to Activity.
  2. Click the Statements drop down, and select Standard.
  3. Under a specific year, select the monthly account statement you are looking to download.
  4. Click Download. (You can download up to 7 years of prior transaction history.)

To generate a custom statement:
  1. Go to Activity.
  2. Click the Statements drop down, and select Custom.
  3. Under Activity download, select the transaction type, date range and statement format.
  4. Click Create Report.
