Why is my payment being held?

We want both buyers and sellers to feel secure using PayPal. Therefore, we may temporarily hold payments for items sold on eBay.

Make sure to ship the item(s) right away so you’ll have access to the funds sooner. We’ll release the hold if:

  • You don’t receive a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal on the transaction subject to the hold, within 21 days.

If your funds are being held at an account level, we will periodically review your account to determine whether or not to hold payments. If you’re new eBay seller, periodic assessment will start 90 days from your first successful transaction.
