How can I view the status of my refund in my PayPal account?

Here's how to view the status of your refund in your PayPal Hong Kong account on your computer:

  1. Go to Activity.
  2. Click Advanced filters.
  3. Click Refunds.
  4. Click the transaction to view its details.
From your PayPal app, tap Your activity on the home screen to find your refund status. (You can't issue a refund from the PayPal app.)

Where does my refund go?
The refunds will go to the original payment source that you used to make this payment. It will remain pending until the seller's funds have cleared their bank.
  • If you made a payment using your credit or debit card, the refund is credited back into that card. Depending on the card issuer, it might take up to 30 days for your refund to appear on your next card statement.
  • If you made a payment using your PayPal balance, the refund is credited back into your PayPal account within 24 hours.
  • If you made a payment partially using your card and PayPal balance, the refund of each partially amount is credited back into that card and PayPal account accordingly.
If your original transaction required currency conversion, and the seller refunds you using PayPal after 1 day of the original payment date, the exchange rate (including the applicable currency conversion fee) on the date of the refund will apply. This means that you may not receive the full amount of your original payment due to the fee and fluctuations in exchange rates. You can find more details about Currency Conversion fees in our User Agreement.

Refunds made more than 180 days after the original payment are considered new payments and will post to your PayPal balance, minus regular fees for receiving payment.
