When setting up merchants in a marketplace using the Managed path integration method, the marketplace partner must create a reference account for each merchant. The reference account is a general ledger entry used for money movement purposes, and is completely invisible to the merchant.
The marketplace partner creates reference accounts via calls to PayPal's Merchant Onboarding API.
