How do I withdraw money to my bank account?

To withdraw money from your PayPal account:

  1. Go to Wallet.
  2. Click Transfer Money.
  3. Click Transfer to your bank.
  4. Follow the instructions.

To withdraw money on the app:

  1. Tap your PayPal balance.
  2. Tap Transfer Money.
  3. Tap Transfer to bank.
  4. Follow the instructions.

If you selected Instant Transfer, you should see the money in your bank account in minutes, but this timeframe may vary depending on the bank. If you don’t see the money in your bank account after 30 minutes, contact your bank for more information. Our team members can’t change the status of your transfer.

The Standard transfer to your bank typically completes in 1 business day, but depending on your bank's clearing process, it may take 3-5* business days. Keep in mind that holidays aren't business days.

Standard transfers to your eligible debit card take approximately 48 hours.

*Note: For users in Albania, Bahrain, Georgia, Kuwait, Mauritius, Moldova, Oman, Panama, Qatar, UAE, Uruguay, Serbia, El Salvador, Egypt, Chile, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Peru, and Ecuador, a transfer to the local bank account may take up to 7 business days.

To see all Central and South American countries' transfer options, go to the PayPal Offerings Worldwide page and select a specific country.

If you have a PayPal account in South Africa, you can withdraw money from your PayPal account directly to your First National Bank of South Africa (FNB) or any linked South African bank account.

You will need an FNB Online Banking profile. If you don't bank with FNB, you can create a free FNB Online Banking profile and link your PayPal account to your South African bank account.

To link your PayPal account to your FNB account:

  1. Log in to your FNB Online Banking profile at www.fnb.co.za.
  2. Click Forex, then click PayPal Services.
  3. Select the menu option on the left, then select Link PayPal Profile.
  4. Complete the instructions to link your accounts.

You’ll need to log in to your PayPal account to confirm that you are the account holder.

To link your PayPal account to your other South African bank account if you don’t have an FNB account:

  1. Go to www.fnb.co.za.
  2. Click Register, then click Register for PayPal for non FNB customers.

You will need to submit certain FICA (The Financial Intelligence Centre Act) documents via email (paypalkyc@fnb.co.za) to complete the registration. Once you've completed the FICA process, you can link your verified PayPal account to your bank account(s). You'll be able to add your non-FNB account for withdrawal purposes.

After linking your PayPal account to your bank account, here’s how to withdraw money:

  1. Log in to your FNB Online Banking profile at www.fnb.co.za.
  2. Click Forex, then click PayPal Services.
  3. Select the menu option on the left, then select Withdraw from PayPal.
  4. Enter the withdrawal amount in US Dollars (make sure you have enough money in your PayPal balance to make this withdrawal).
  5. Follow the instructions to confirm the exchange rate, the Rand amount you will receive, and the transaction terms and conditions.

You’ll be taken back to the PayPal website to log in and review the amount you are withdrawing to your FNB or another South African bank account. After completing this, you’ll then be sent back to the FNB website. You'll receive your money in your FNB bank account within 3 to 5 business days.

All transfers are subject to review and could be delayed or stopped if we identify an issue.
