  • 1. Using the 'Add to cart' button
    Customers shop on your site and add items to their cart, using PayPal's secure site. You give them product options, like size and colour, as well as showing the shipping costs.
  • 2. View cart and go to checkout
    When they're happy with the selections in their cart, your customers proceed to checkout.
  • 3. Review details
    Your customers are taken to payment pages on the secure PayPal site. If they want to pay using their PayPal account, they log in and pay in as few as three easy clicks. To pay by credit or debit card without logging into a PayPal account, they fill out the easy payment form.
  • 4. Confirm payment
    Your customers see a payment confirmation page and receive an email confirmation. You'll also receive confirmation of the order by email.
  • 5. Return to your site
    After paying, your customers can be sent back to your site immediately to a page of your choice - perhaps a thank you page or your home page. You can set this up in 'Preferences' under the 'Profile' tab in your 'Account Overview' page.
  • 6. You get paid
    When the order is complete, the money usually shows up in your PayPal account in a few minutes. You can then transfer it to your bank account or spend it online using your PayPal account at millions of websites worldwide.
  • 1. You create an invoice
    You create a new invoice or reuse an existing invoice template. You then enter the customer contact information and billing details such as quantities, unit prices, VAT and postage costs.
  • 2. Your customer receives the invoice via email
    When a customer receives an email invoice in their inbox, they open it and click the payment button to pay you.
  • 3. Your customer chooses how to pay you
    Your customer has the option to pay using their credit card, bank account, or money already in their PayPal account.
  • 4. You get paid
    You receive an email when you get paid. You can then transfer the money to your bank account or spend it immediately online anywhere PayPal is accepted.

Merchant Rate

You can apply for Merchant Rate pricing if you’ve processed more than £1,500 in total payments through PayPal in the previous calendar month and your account is in good standing (not currently under investigation). We will look at your total payments processed to determine your merchant rate on a monthly basis.

Maintaining your Merchant Rate
After qualifying for Merchant Rate pricing, you need to maintain a payment volume of more than £1,500 to remain eligible for Merchant Rates. In the event that a payment volume of more than £1,500 is not maintained in the previous calendar month, or if you have unresolved chargebacks, you will no longer be eligible for Merchant Rate pricing and Standard Rate pricing will apply. You don’t need to re-apply for Merchant Rate pricing if your payment volume drops below £1,500 in the previous calendar month. Merchant Rate will automatically apply again when you reach the qualifying payment volume.

If you’re interested in the Merchant Rate, log in to your PayPal account and apply via the online application form. In the event that your request is refused, please note that you may only submit an application once every 30 days.
