What is Pay in 30 Days?
Pay in 30 Days is an interest-free loan that lets you make a purchase and pay the full amount 30 days after the merchant processes your order. It gives you extra time to make sure your purchase is right for you before paying. Carefully consider if the purchase is affordable and how you will repay. Missing payments may impact your ability to access other sources of credit and future eligibility for Pay in 30 Days. We report Pay in 30 Days missed payments to Credit Reference Agencies.
Pay in 3 is a regulated Deferred Payment Credit agreement. Refer to the terms and conditions to understand your rights.
Will I be able to use Pay in 30 Days?
Pay in 30 Days is not available for certain merchants and goods. We may also decide not to offer Pay in 30 Days as a payment option in certain circumstances, such as where data we hold suggests you may not be eligible or where our checks suggest an increased risk of fraud. We assess your financial position taking into account information about your usage and history with PayPal to decide whether Pay in 30 Days is suitable for you. If we need more information we may run a credit check with an external credit reference agency. This is a soft search, it will only be visible to you and will not affect your credit score.
Will applying for Pay in 30 Days impact my credit score?
No. Applying for Pay in 30 Days will not impact your credit score. A "soft" credit check may be needed, but it will not affect your credit score.
However, if you are approved and use Pay in 30 Days for your purchase, we do share some data on your repayment history with TransUnion. This will include information like your loan amount and payment history (including missed payments). The data shared may impact your credit file, it will also be visible to other companies, which may impact your ability to obtain credit from other lenders and the cost of accessing it. Missing payment may also affect your ability to use us in the future.
How can I pay with Pay in 30 Days?
Pay in 30 Days will appear as a payment method for eligible PayPal customers and eligible online basket values between £1 and £900 when you checkout with PayPal subject to your status and approval. Upon applying, you’ll receive a quick decision, although not every application may be approved.
What are the terms and conditions for my Pay in 30 Days loan?
You should read the terms and conditions of your Pay in 30 Days loan before you submit your application. This includes Key Product Information and Additional Product Information as well as other terms. You will also see Key product information on screens before you apply. You will see a link to your terms when you choose to apply for Pay in 30 Days at checkout. You will also have the option to download them.
Once your loan starts, we will send you an email containing important information about your Pay in 30 Days loan, including how to access your loan agreement in your PayPal account.
Are there any fees associated with Pay in 30 Days?
PayPal does not charge any sign-up, application, late, or Not Sufficient Funds (NSF) fees when you pay with Pay in 30 Days. However, if your repayment is returned because of non-sufficient funds or for another reason, your bank or financial institution may charge you an NSF or other fee.
If you make a Pay in 30 Days purchase in a different currency than your domestic/default currency, conversion charges will apply. For more details, please read the section "Where can I pay with Pay in 30 Days” below.
Can I extend the repayment date?
For Pay in 30 Days, we may allow you to push the repayment date back by 10 days at no additional charge. If this option is available it will be visible in your servicing experience at that time.
The payment date can only be extended once for each transaction.
Where can I pay with Pay in 30 Days?
Pay in 30 Days is available to use at most merchants where PayPal is accepted. Transactions can be made in all currencies that PayPal supports, not just GBP. For transactions not in GBP, PayPal will automatically convert the transaction amount to GBP at checkout before providing you with your Pay in 30 Days loan. Currency conversion charges will apply as set out in your PayPal User Agreement.
Why could I use Pay in 30 Days before but can’t with the same merchant now?
Pay in 30 Days availability will vary by merchant and individual shopping experience. The Pay in 30 Days checkout option will only be displayed if the option is available for the specific merchant as well as the transaction amount and type.
Keep in mind, not all goods and services are eligible. If for some reason the items in your online basket are not eligible for Pay in 30 Days, it will not be available for your purchase.
How will my Pay in 30 Days purchase show in my PayPal activity?
Every Pay in 30 Days purchase will appear in your PayPal activity with the full purchase amount under the merchant’s name. This line item reflects PayPal paying the merchant, giving you extra time to make sure your purchase is right for you before paying.
How do I make my repayment?
Your payment will be taken automatically from the confirmed payment method you provided at the time of application 30 days after your purchase. You can repay your Pay in 30 Days loan early at any time by making a payment in the Pay Later section in your PayPal account. Accepted repayment methods for Pay in 30 Days are Bank account or Debit card linked to your PayPal account. PayPal balance can only be used for manual real-time repayments. If you optionally extend the payment deadline by 10 days you will see the updated repayment date in your servicing experience and the amount will be debited on that date.
How can I update my repayment method?
If you want to make a repayment with a different or updated payment method, you can change your payment method by:
- Logging into your PayPal account.
- Going to the Pay Later section.
- Select the Pay in 30 Days loan you want to update.
There, you can click “Change” under “Payment Method” and follow the prompts to update the payment method for your loan.
Accepted repayment methods for Pay in 30 Days loans are Debit card or Bank account linked to your PayPal account. You may need to confirm your new payment method before you can use it for repayments. PayPal balance can only be used for manual real-time repayments.
Can I pause or suspend my Pay in 30 Days repayment?
Once you agree to the terms of your Pay in 30 Days loan, in most cases, you cannot pause, suspend, or skip your payment.

It’s important you get in touch as early as possible if you are encountering or likely to encounter difficulties. How do Pay in 30 Days refunds work?
A full refund will resolve the open loan and bring it zero and your loan agreement will end. If you receive a partial refund, the amount is deducted from your loan in order to reduce the amount to be paid to PayPal on the due date.
If you receive a refund after the repayment is already complete, the amount will be applied to your PayPal balance. You can either withdraw it to your bank account or use it for future payments. A credit of your refund can take up to 48 hours.
Can I opt out from seeing Pay in 30 Days at checkout?
If you prefer not to see the Pay in 30 Days funding option within the PayPal checkout, you can contact us and ask us to change your account settings so that Pay in 30 Days is not shown.
If you want to change this at a later date, you can contact us and we can adjust your settings to show Pay in 30 Days again.
Why was my Pay in 30 Days approval not used for my completed purchase?
Your Pay in 30 Days approval is valid for the specific shopping session in which it was granted. If you change the payment method during checkout or experience a disruption in your session (internet glitch or session timeout) the approval may become invalid. In that case, you would need to apply again to use Pay in 30 Days for a transaction.
My Pay in 30 Days application has been declined. Why?
Our decision process is automated. We assess your financial position using a combination of the information you provide in your application and information about your usage and history with PayPal to decide if Pay in 30 Days is suitable for you now. We may also run checks on your credit history with an external credit reference agency. This search will only be visible to you and will not affect your credit score.
If your application gets declined, you can still use PayPal to check out securely with other payment methods in your PayPal wallet. The reason may have been provided to you on your application decision page directly, or we may send you a PayPal email explaining why your application didn't go through.

I don’t want to continue my Pay in 30 Days loan. Can I withdraw from my loan agreement?
If you withdraw from your Pay in 30 loan, you will have to repay us any amounts outstanding on your loan as soon as possible and within 30 days of telling us.
You have fourteen (14) calendar days to withdraw, starting from the day after you make your purchase with Pay in 3. You must inform us of your decision to withdraw by contacting us online at www.paypal.com/uk by selecting ‘Help” and then “contact us”.
