Why did I get the error "You do not have permission to perform this action" in the Live environment?

Important: Adaptive Payments is now a limited release product. It's restricted to select partners for approved use cases and shouldn't be used for new integrations without guidance from PayPal.

Issue
PayPal denied you permission to perform an action in the Live environment.

Causes
This error message can have numerous causes.

Solution
If you get this error after your Adaptive Payments application has been approved, do the following:
  1. Check to make sure your PayPal account is verified.
  2. Check that you're using the correct API credentials for the account from which you're making the API call.
  3. Check that the PayPal account you're using to make the API call is the account for which you have an Application ID.
  4. Check that you're not trying to make an API call that you didn't request within your application when it was submitted and approved.
In certain instances, there may also be an issue if you try to use functionality within a restricted API call. These functions aren't generally available and may require a specific request to be enabled in the Live environment.
