Confirm your identity

To help ensure PayPal remains a safer place for all customers to transact, you’re required to confirm your identity before your account is fully activated and able to transact.

Our process is much like a bank’s when you sign up for an account – basically, confirming the information you’ve provided us is correct.

How to confirm your identity?

Please go to the Resolution Center and upload the required documents according to your account type and nationality.

If you are a Chinese national

  • Identification document –
    Upload a scanned copy of the national ID (both front and back must be included in one file).
  • Proof of address –
    Upload a scanned copy of the national ID (both front and back must be included in one file).

If you are a non-Chinese national

  • Identification document –
    Upload a scanned copy of the passport profile page.
  • Proof of address –
    Upload a scanned copy of the proof of address. The following types of documents from the last 6 months are acceptable proof of address:
    • Utility bill
    • Credit card bill
    • Mobile phone bill
    • Bank statement
