Questions and Answers

How do I choose between Personal, Premier and Business accounts?

Personal: Recommended for individuals who shop and pay online.
Premier: Recommended for casual sellers or non-businesses that buy and sell online.

What is the benefit of paying with a UnionPay card?

When you pay an overseas merchant using a UnionPay card, the amount in the transactional currency is converted into Chinese Yuan directly based on the transaction day's exchange rate and deducted from your UnionPay card. Conversion through an intermediary currency such as U.S. Dollar is not necessary. You don't need to pay any currency conversion fee, which may help you save 1% to 2% of the transaction amount.

How can I differentiate a UnionPay card from a Visa, MasterCard or American Express card?

The UnionPay card type supported by PayPal includes both credit and debit cards. Only Chinese Yuan single-currency cards that start with the numbers "62" and bears a China UnionPay logo are considered the UnionPay card type. If your credit card has both a UnionPay logo and a Visa/MasterCard/American Express logo, also supports both Chinese Yuan and a foreign currency, it will be considered the Visa/MasterCard/American Express card type.

After I’ve added a UnionPay card, do I need to add funds to my PayPal account before making a payment?

No, you don't need to. You can pay directly using your card.

How do I know the payment amount in Chinese Yuan when I pay using a UnionPay card?

When you have confirmed your order at the merchant's website, PayPal will redirect you to an online banking page operated by UnionPay or your card issuing bank. You will be able to see the amount of your payment in Chinese Yuan on the online banking payment page.

Can I own multiple PayPal accounts?

You can create one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. You can link more email addresses, debit or credit cards, and bank accounts, but each account must have its own email address and bank account information.
