Why is my PayPal Business Debit Mastercard® being declined?
You can manage all details of your PayPal Business Debit Mastercard® by going to your Dashboard. If your card is being declined, check to see if:
Your physical card is active – You can activate your new card at any time.
Your card details are current – Make sure the card isn't expired or closed, and the billing address on your PayPal account matches what you're entering. The CVV of the digital card will not match the physical card if the physical card isn’t activated. Please use the CVV on the digital card if the physical card is not activated.
Don't worry; a new card will be coming in the mail if it's expired or closed. You can report the card as lost by going to your card summary page.
You have money in your PayPal balance – The PayPal Business Debit Mastercard®
allows you to access the money available in your balance. Add money to your balance
and adjust your automatic transfer settings
to ensure sufficient balance for future transactions.
Here's how to add backup funding:
- Click your PayPal Business Debit Mastercard on your Home page.
- Click Link a Bank Account.
The backup funding feature may not be available depending on how often you use PayPal or if your bank has recently declined payments. If the payment declines and you don't have money in your PayPal account, try adding money from your bank, let it process, and try the payment again. This will help build up a history of successful payments on your account.
If you're withdrawing money, make sure you have enough money in your PayPal balance to cover the fee. Review our fees page for details.
Your PIN is incorrect – If you don't remember your PIN, you can reset it in your account.
Here's how:
- Go to Summary.
- Click PayPal Business Debit Mastercard.
- On the ‘PayPal Business Debit Card’ homepage, click See PIN.
The transaction amount is over your daily spending limit – The standard daily spending limit for purchase is $3,000.00 USD or its equivalent in your local currency.
