Supporting Equality for All
PayPal’s LGBTQ network, PayPal Pride, celebrates and furthers our commitment to inclusion and diversity and support for our LGBTQ employees and allies. We host 16 chapters across six countries.
In 2017, for the sixth consecutive year, PayPal earned a perfect rating of 100 percent from the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index, making it one of HRC’s “Best Places to Work” for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees.
Creating More Opportunities for Women
Through Unity, a PayPal affinity group of women and men working together to create more opportunities for women at PayPal, we are focused on gender equality and gender balance. The mission of Unity is to help women thrive, provide them with growth opportunities, and help the next generation explore the world of technology. Founded in 2007, Unity is a grassroots team with a presence in 27 PayPal locations across the globe.
Sample projects, efforts and events include:
• Participating in events for women to access industry knowledge and insight on technical trends
• Providing opportunities for building critical skills and leadership presence
• Facilitating strong mentoring relationships and personal development
• Supporting the next generation of women in STEM, while providing engaging volunteer opportunities

• Creating opportunities for women to build technical acumen, and to share their passion through knowledge-sharing, meet-ups and hackathons
Opportunity is focused on those who are specially-abled or disadvantaged in some way, including socioeconomic status. PayPal’s mission and vision is that every person has the right to participate fully in the global economy, and that we have an obligation to empower people to exercise this right and improve financial health. This philosophy not only extends to the types of products and services we provide the world, but also to the internal opportunities we provide current and future talent at PayPal.
Leveraging Other Experiences
PayPal employees who have served in the military, along with employees who support veterans’ causes, make up our military veterans network, called Serve. Through this outreach and development program, veterans contribute to making PayPal a more diverse and inclusive company by leveraging their experiences and training to assist their teammates and PayPal. Many of our U.S. locations host active chapters, and the program has expanded to include employees who are British veterans working in our London office.
The Serve network provides a place for veterans and allies to come together regularly, and offers professional and personal development opportunities, mentorship, and community outreach opportunities. This network advances veterans’ causes, along with a vision to nurture an environment of integrity, excellence, respect, teamwork, and leadership consistent with PayPal business and diversity initiatives.
Fostering an Inclusive Workplace for Black Employees
The mission of Amplify is to foster an inclusive workplace by enhancing the recruitment, retention and advancement of Black employees while promoting cultural awareness; offering professional development, networking and mentorship opportunities; supporting business initiatives by providing culture-aware insight and thought leadership; and enhancing and promoting the PayPal brand by establishing connections with external organizations, strategic partners and the communities where we live and work.
Driving Social Innovation/Financial Inclusion
Making an impact
Through PayPal Gives, a corporate charitable fund that supports multiple employee giving programs, employees can make a lasting impact in their local communities. With local GIVE chapters in more than 27 PayPal offices in 16 countries, teams can dedicate time and resources to locally selected volunteering and fundraising efforts, including submitting grant applications for funding.
We support everyone at PayPal who gives back through team-based projects, charitable fundraising drives and individual matching gifts – all of which contributed to our No. 19 spot on Fortune Magazine’s Change The World list.
Hacking for good
PayPal has some of the best minds in technology, and we use this talent to build solutions that will empower nonprofit organizations. Through our Opportunity Hacks, employees worldwide compete in teams to help nonprofit organizations solve real business problems, such as improving user experience, SEO and donation flows.
Since its founding in 2013, Opportunity Hacks have enlisted over 1,000 participants to help ore than 125 organizations in need.
