How do I report a spoof email via the PayPal app?

Forward any suspicious email to spoof@paypal.com. Then delete it from your inbox. If you need to report an unauthorized activity in your account, tap the Settings icon on the top right, then tap Message Center.

You'll know that an email wasn't sent by PayPal if:

  • The email opens with a generic greeting like "Dear user" or "Hello, PayPal member." We'll always address you by your first and last name or the business name on your PayPal account.
  • The email requests financial and other personal information.
  • The email contains an attachment, like a software update you can install on your computer.
  • The email asks you to send a payment outside of the PayPal system, for example via Western Union money order.
