Why is my balance below zero and how can I resolve this?

Your PayPal account balance could have fallen below zero for many reasons, such as:
  • You sent a payment but we never received the money from your bank account
  • A buyer opened a dispute/claim because they're unhappy with something they purchased from you
  • A credit card company or bank reversed a payment you received
We recommend viewing your Activity to see what happened.

Restoring your balance

You can restore your balance if you:
  • Add money to your balance from your bank
  • Receive money into your account to cover the outstanding amount
  • Send us a cheque, postal order or a banker's draft
If you’re sending a cheque, postal order or banker's draft please make it payable to PayPal. Write your email address in the memo area and send it to:

PayPal Europe
PO Box 9473

A cheque normally takes 7 working days from the date we receive it to be credited to your account, while a banker's draft or a postal order normally takes 2 working days.
