How do I confirm my bank account with PayPal?

For security purposes, we may ask you to confirm that you’re the owner of the bank account linked to your PayPal account.

Here's how to confirm your bank account:

  1. Go to your Wallet.
  2. Click the bank account you want to confirm.
  3. Click Confirm.

We'll deposit €0.01 in your bank account. You'll find a 4-digit code next to the €0.01 deposit on your statement in up to 3 days. To find the code, check your online bank statement or contact your bank.

Here's how to confirm a bank account you’ve linked to your PayPal account when you know the 4-digit code:

  1. Click Wallet at the top of the page.
  2. Click Unconfirmed next to the bank account you want to confirm.
  3. Enter the 4-digit code and click Confirm. (You have 3 attempts).

  • When adding a bank account to your PayPal account, you first need to accept a Direct Debit Mandate before using it to make payments.
  • If a future payment fails from your bank account, you may need to accept the Direct Debit Mandate again. If this is the case, you’ll see a prompt to ‘Complete setup’ next to the bank account in your Wallet.
  • You can only use a bank account denominated in EUR. If the currency of your bank account is different than EUR, you won’t be able to complete the bank confirmation process.
