Erica leads the strategic direction and operations of PayPal Giving Fund Australia. Her previous roles have delivered campaigns and operations for not for profits. She has experience in state government and the resource sector delivering projects and optimising business functions.
Joshua manages the internal operations of PayPal Giving Fund, including accounting and finance. His previous roles have included COO and CFO at an international poverty alleviation organization, VP at a strategic consulting firm focused on social impact, and project manager for a start-up satellite telecommunications company in Ghana. He holds an MBA from the George Washington University and a bachelor's degree from Williams College.
Nuru manages PayPal Giving Fund’s accounting activities. Prior to joining PayPal Giving Fund, she worked for Atlantic Recycling Group, LLC, Jewish War Veteran’s museum, Common Cause and Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. She is a chartered CPA in Virginia and graduated in accounting and finance from USC, Columbia. Nuru enjoys traveling, swimming, reading, and spending time with her husband and two kids.
Michelle supports the growth of PayPal Giving Fund's charitable impact by managing marketing and communications functions across Australia and international markets. In her previous role, Michelle held a position in the PayPal Consumer Marketing team and worked on the launch of Give at Checkout in Australia.
Elle Zhang was appointed Company Secretary of PayPal Giving Fund Australia in July 2022. Elle is also a Senior Legal Counsel for PayPal Australia and PayPal Giving Fund. Elle joined PayPal in 2018 and looks after a wide range of areas, including product and regulatory legal support, marketing and PR support and PayPal giving initiatives. Elle was also the company secretary for PayPal Credit Pty Ltd from 2018 to 2021. Elle has over 11 years of experience practicing in corporate and commercial, M&A, banking & financial services and corporate governance in Australia. Elle leads PayPal Australia legal team’s pro bono legal program and is an active contributor to PayPal’s pro bono legal support to the wider communities and partnering charities.
PayPal Giving Fund is overseen by an experienced Board of Directors which, on behalf of our donors and beneficiaries, is charged with governing our operations, monitoring our effectiveness, and establishing overall strategy. Among other responsibilities, the Board meets regularly to oversee the organisation's policies and practices to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability
Eric is the CEO of PayPal Australia, with experience serving as a board director for non-profits since 2007. Before joining PayPal, Eric held the position of Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Live Nation Entertainment, leading a diverse range of global initiatives for this Fortune 500 company. Eric studied at Stanford Law School and is qualified to practice law in California, USA and Victoria, Australia. Throughout his career, he has been involved in a wide range of charitable endeavors, including supporting youth in the arts and families of children and young adults living with disabilities. In his leadership role with PayPal Giving Fund, Eric will be drawing on his varied senior executive experience to help strengthen the impact of giving in Australia.
Elaine joined the PPGF AU board in June 2018. She has over 20 years’ experience in Financial Service, Fintech and Media, across senior roles in marketing, brand, communications and customer growth. She spent over 3 years at PayPal Australia as Marketing Director, and prior to that worked at Westpac, BT Financial Group and Reuters. She is also an Independent Director of Mine Super Services.
David is a values-driven commercial entrepreneur committed to the success of charitable and for-purpose organisations. Most recently he was the CEO of Variety – the Children’s Charity NSW/ACT. With over 25 years of diverse executive leadership, governance and Board experience across various industry sectors he loves driving strategy, growing & diversifying income, building brand, stakeholder engagement and leading high-performing teams.
Katherine is the chief executive officer of Fundraising Institute Australia, the largest representative body for the $10.5 billion charitable fundraising sector. Katherine has served as a board director for several arts organisations and is currently a director of Girl Guides Australia. She grew up in Minnesota, USA, where she completed her undergraduate degree as well as a Master’s in International Business Management.
Simon is a pioneer in digital commerce platforms and disruptive technologies formed through a distinguished career in leading corporations including Salesforce.com, Oracle, Siebel and PayPal. Simon is currently Director of Enterprise Sales at PayPal Australia, and in this role leads the front line teams working with large merchants and key accounts, ensuring a consistent and collaborative approach across client engagement activities. Prior to this, Simon established Hyperwallet – a US based payments startup – with its presence in Australia and Asia Pacific. As part of this, his responsibilities included both the building of the business, but also the licencing of the Hyperwallet business under the appropriate regulations. Following the PayPal acquisition, Simon continues to serve as the Managing Director of Hyperwallet Systems Australia Pty Ltd and the associated regulatory responsibilities that form part of that role. Simon holds a Master of Business in Marketing from the University of Technology Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics from Macquarie University. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
PayPal Giving Fund Australia receives grant funding in support of its charitable mission from PayPal Charitable Giving Fund (“PPGF US”), a public charity in the U.S., which also appoints our board members. We use this funding to cover our operating costs including the employment costs of PayPal staff in Australia who are formally seconded from PayPal Australia to carry out our work. In reimbursing PayPal Australia for these costs, we pay market rate remuneration for the role, consisting of a competitive base salary and reasonable benefits. PayPal, Inc., a listed US company, provides grant funding to PPGF US in support of its charitable mission, and appoints its board members.
