Why did I get API error code 10762?
PayPal returned API error code 10762 - This transaction cannot be processed. The CVV provided is invalid.
Causes
This error message can mean either of two things:
- The Card Verification Value (CVV2) code has failed several times, causing the card to be declined. The code may be incorrect.
- In the request being sent to PayPal, the CVV2 code may contain extra or abnormal characters or spaces.
Solution
If you get this error while trying to process your credit card and all information is accurate, wait 24 hours and try again, or use another payment method. Also:
- Try using a different card and see if it gives the same results.
- Look for extra or abnormal character spaces in the CVV2 code; delete any you find.
