By participating in PayPal’s "Invite Friends" promotion (the "Program"), you agree to the following terms and conditions (the "Terms"). PayPal may at any time and in its discretion, without prior notice, terminate, cancel, suspend or modify the Program or these terms.

The Program allows you to invite people you know to sign up for a Canadian account with PayPal. You can earn a reward when friends you invite to join PayPal through the Program sign up and complete an Eligible Transaction (defined below). If you are the person inviting friends to join PayPal, you are a "referrer" under these terms, and if you are a person who receives an invitation, you are a "referee".

Eligibility and Overview

You may participate in this Program as a referrer until the Program is terminated or modified by PayPal. If you refer a referee prior to PayPal’s termination or modification of the program, you will still be eligible to earn the reward described below even if the referee does not fulfill the Reward Criteria (defined below) before such termination or modification, provided that the referee does fulfill the Reward Criteria after termination or modification.

To be eligible to earn rewards through the Program, each referrer and referee must have a Canadian personal PayPal account in good standing (“Valid Account”) at the time of participation through when his/her reward(s) are issued.

A referrer may refer a referee by sending a personal message via the Program referral prompts (“Referral Link”) .  A referrer can receive a Reward for each referee that satisfies all of the following “Reward Criteria”: (i) accesses the Referral Link and completes the PayPal Account sign up process; (ii) links his/her bank, or Visa, Mastercard or Amex credit card or debit card to their PayPal Account; (iii) verifies their cell number linked to their PayPal Account; and (iv) completes an Eligible Transaction (defined below) within the first 30 days of successfully completing the PayPal Account sign up process. A referrer can receive Rewards for a maximum of 10 referees per calendar year.

An “Eligible Transaction” means: an online or in app PayPal checkout payment of $5.00 CAD or more using the referee’s new Valid PayPal account that is marked as “complete” in the referee’s account. Transactions that have been cancelled, refunded, or reversed by either the referee, referrer, or the seller do not count as Eligible Transactions.

For the purposes of this Program, a family relationship is one where you and the recipient of your message are related to one another through a marriage, common-law partnership or any legal parent-child relationship and you have had direct, voluntary, two-way communication. A personal relationship means you and the recipient of your message is sent have had direct, voluntary, two-way communications and it would be reasonable to conclude that you have a personal relationship, taking into consideration any relevant factors such as the sharing of interests, experiences, opinions and information evidenced in the communications, the frequency of communication, the length of time since the parties communicated or whether the parties have met in person.

There is a limit of one (1) reward per referee Valid Account and ten (10) rewards per referrer Valid Account. If two or more referrers invite the same referee, PayPal will credit the reward to the person who has their Invitation accepted first, as determined in PayPal’s discretion. If a referrer has reached their limit of 10, referees that were referred by referee prior to reaching the limit will still be eligible to earn their Reward (defined below) provided all required steps are met and these Terms are otherwise complied with.

Reward: The reward amount is $10 CAD voucher (“Reward”) that will be automatically applied the first time a referrer or referee completes a purchase using a Valid Account (“Eligible Purchase”) while the Reward is valid and redeemable.

Eligible Purchases do not include: (1) send/receive money transactions (including those marked as a “Goods and Services” or “Person to Person” payments), (2) charitable donations, (3) purchases made using PayPal.me; (4) Visa Debit or credit card purchases made using the card directly and not through your PayPal account, (5) PayPal transaction fees, or (6) transactions made in any other currency beyond CAD. Rewards will be viewable in the “Offers” section of the referrer or referee’s Valid Account for personal accounts. The Reward must be redeemed within 90 days of referrer or referee receiving a reward, and may only be redeemed as described in these terms & conditions. Use of the Reward will be reflected on the referrer or referee’s PayPal receipt and/or in the transaction details of his/her Valid Account. Rewards should post to your account within approximately fourteen (14) days but may be available sooner.

Receiving and Using Rewards

PayPal may provide an alternate Reward of equal value if it is unable for any reason to fulfil the reward. PayPal is not responsible and/or liable if any email, Reward, referrals, or Program-related materials or correspondence are lost, fraudulent, abusive, stolen, late, incomplete, illegible, interrupted, delayed, altered, defective, misdirected, tampered with, or irregular in any way or if any participant’s e-mail address, Valid Account, or other contact information does not work, is deleted, or is changed without participant giving prior written notice to PayPal. PayPal reserves the right to review any account or transaction related to this Program, in its discretion, without notice, and delay completion of the Reward.

PayPal is not responsible and/or liable if any e-mail, Reward, referrals, or Program-related materials or correspondence are lost, fraudulent, abusive, stolen, late, incomplete, illegible, interrupted, delayed, altered, defective, misdirected, tampered with, or irregular in any way or if any participant’s e-mail address, Valid Account, or other contact information does not work, is deleted, or is changed without participant giving prior written notice to PayPal.

Program is void where prohibited or if referrer or referee’s account or transaction are fraudulent, abusive, not completed through legitimate channels, or irregular in any way.
